Death of David Tomsett (Crawley ringer)

It is with great sadness that we have been informed that David Tomsett passed away last week (March 2019). David had been a ringer at Crawley for many years and was also the church verger.

The funeral will be at 2:30pm on 28th March 2019, and there will be open ringing at 1:45pm before the service.

Death of Mary Bartholomew (Hurstpierpoint & Chichester ringer)

It is with great sadness that we have been informed that Mary Bartholomew died on 28th February 2019. She learnt to ring at Hurstpierpoint in the 1940s and was then a member of the Chichester band becoming Tower Master in the 1990s.

Our thoughts are with her husband Donald and their family.

Death of Dilys Marian Smith (Wivelsfield ringer)

It is with great sadness that we have been informed that Dilys Marian Smith (Wivelsfield ringer) died on 20 January 2019.

 

Her funeral was on 12 February 2019.

Death of Geoff West (Stedham ringer)

It is with great sadness that we have been informed that Geoff West (ringer & former tower captain at Stedham) died on 12th February 2019 after a very short illness 

He was a regular member of St James, Stedham having learned to ring in the mid 1960’s under Don Kirk, the school master. He rang his first ¼ peal along side his daughter Gill on 13th February, 1969 and continued as a ringer and as tower captain until well into his 80’s eventually standing down in 2016. He still wound the clock into his old age.

Geoff's funeral will take place at St James Church on Monday 11th March at 12.00.

Death of Ronnie Stillwell (Steyning & Brighton ringer)

It is with great sadness that we have been informed that Ronnie Stillwell (former ringer at Steyning & Brighton) died on 31st January 2019. Ronnie had celebrated 50 years of ringing in 2014. Our thoughts are with Ronnie's family at this sad time.

Ronnie's funeral is at 11.30am on 19 February, at St Andrew & St Cuthman's church in Steyning.
